How BIM helps general contractors win more business

  • How is BIM coordinating custom ceilings when Revit only has two default families and the market offers 10-12 different ceiling products as standards, Armstrong, USG, Hunter Douglas, Lindner, and many other manufacturers have extensive lines of standard ceilings architects are specifying, but the software is limited in this capacity. Ceiling bids are in the millions of dollars for a project in the 30,000 sq foot range, and multimillion dollar bids on large projects like airports, convention centers etc., but unfortunately they can’t be drawn with ease on standard BIM platforms. Would love to discuss this issue.
